The Liebster! Part 1

First, let me explain what exactly The Liebster Award is:
This award is given to blogs with less than 200 followers, and there are certain criteria that must be met in order to continue sharing this award with other bloggers. It's sort of a fun chain letter than helps bloggers connect, discover new blogs and support one another because blogging is tough business, man!

Wouldn't this look lovely on my blog? :)

The rules for the Liebster Award are as follows:
1. Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create 11 new questions for the bloggers you pass the award to.
3. Choose 11 new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them about the award.
5. No tag backs.

Note: I am going to break the rules into two sections over two days because I am a rebel, and because while it may seem like an easy, fun, post, when you put a lot of thought into your random facts, answers, questions and nominees, it all becomes very involved and personal. 

So for today, let's start with the 11 random facts about me, and then my answers to the questions asked of me by Simply At Home Mom. (Make sure you check out her awesome blog!) Tomorrow I will have my list of questions for my nominees.

11 Random Facts About Me:

1.  When I was a junior in high school, I was sitting on the floor at a party, and someone walked by and accidentally kicked the pinkie finger on left hand.  I knew it was broken right away, but I didn't want to leave the party so I toughed it out.  14 years later it's still crooked. 

2.  I know all of the words to "The Weight" by "The Band".

3.  My biggest pet-peeve is stepping in water when I have socks on my feet. 

So true, dude, so true. 

4.  The reason I had to postpone this post was because I had a doctor's appointment this morning to have a small lump in my left breast checked out.  More on that later. 

5.  I get really grouchy when I am hungry.

Please, forgive me. 

6.  I have a lot of unfinished "home improvement" projects going on. 

7.  I refuse to pay for a gym membership.  Why would I do that when walking or running outside in the fresh air is completely free?

8.  I have a terrible fashion sense, and envy women who can pull a cute outfit together out of thin air.  

9.  I'm a sucker for baseball stadium nachos. Extra cheese and jalapenos, please!

10. I think I could live quite happily in the late 1800's.  Bring on the calico print dresses, sun bonnets and Conestoga wagons!

11.  I feel guilty when I'm sitting here writing random things and Jim is cleaning the kitchen. Well, not too guilty. :)

1. What is your favorite food?
My Mom’s homemade garlic mashed potatoes! 

2. Do you have a favorite quote?
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. -Annie Dillard

3. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? 
Back to Florence, Italy.

4. What do you miss most about being a child?
Being unaware of all the problems in the world. 

5. What is something you learned in the last week?
I just recently started taking a conversational Spanish class and I leaned how to say, “When will there be more rats than cats?”.  

6. If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
Oh, this is a good one!! I would love to see Grace, my daughter, living out all of her dreams.

7. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
Putting away laundry.

8. What sound do you love?
Spring rain showers.

9. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To heal people.

10. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
Running.

11. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Foreign languages! All sorts of them!
